Mississauga Blues RFC vs Brampton Beavers RFC

The Mississauga Blues kicked off their 2018 season with a 47-26 loss to the Brampton Beavers in Brampton.

The Beavers drew first blood on a 60 m run down the wing. Minutes later the Blues tied it up as Jackson Amos crashed over off a penalty from 5m out. Jason Park added the convert. They went ahead as Amos picked up from the back of a 5m scrum with Park again adding the convert.

Brampton rounded the corner for another long score just before the half bringing the score level at 14 at halftime.

The wheels fell off a bit for the Blues in the second half as Brampton out scored them 33-12 for the 47-26 victory. Brampton continued to find plenty of daylight on the wings and the Blues were never able to adjust. Jason Park provided all of the scoring for the Blues in the second half with 2 tries and a convert.

Positives for the Blues were their four tries, three of which were the result of sustained phases of pressure and the fourth off of a break away run by Amos finished by a nice offload to Park, who was right there in support. The Blues were also quite dominant in the scrum. Plenty for the Blues to work on in training this week though before they kick off the regular season next week at Fletcher’s Field vs the Saracens.
